November...How Time Flies...

It's been awhile since we've posted and much has gone on! Back in the first part of November Nick had his annual deer hunt with his dad and brother, so Grant and I decided to have our own fun in Omaha. We started our weekend at CoCo Key's with the Howards. Grant was not sure what to think of the waterpark but quickly found out he liked it. Hayden and Grant were busy crawling everywhere and watching everything. This is also where Grant figured out he is a big fan of slides. We went down them multiple times to his delight. This picture is of Hayden giving Grant a hug...Hayden is such a good little hugger!

Grant also had fun seeing lots of family. It was a beautiful weekend and we all had a wonderful time getting outside for a bit and playing on Mausbach's swing set. Here is another slide that Grant had a blast on! I think we have some pretty good ideas of what he might like for Christmas or his birthday!

Now that Grant is mobile he is quite content to roam all through the house and play with everything. One of his favorite stops is at the back sliding door...this stop usually consists of knocking or banging on the window, talking some jibberish, and sometimes just staring out (there's usually a squirrel or two out and about, which he finds entertaining).
Our Thanksgiving was spent at Doug and Brandi's and we had such a relaxing long weekend. I believe Grant's favorite part of the weekend was Koda-Doug and Brandi's dog. They quickly became friends after Grant's first meal. (Nick and I loved not having to clean up the floor after every meal). Grant got a big kick out of feeding Koda, following Koda around the house, and getting Koda kisses. He also enjoyed spending some quality time with family. He really took an interest to his cousin Gus too, which was cute to see!

Monkeying Around

Here's Grant in his little monkey costume for Halloween. Nick said he was Curious Grant...quite fitting for him right now because he is into everything. :) We only went to a few houses before Grant was tuckered out and ready to be done with the costume. Notice the pic with his cute little tail (my personal favorite part of the costume :). Hope you all had a spooktacular Halloween!

Fun with Great Grandparents, Cousins, and Friends

Nick, Grant, and I decided to make the trek up to South Dakota and visit my Grandparents. This was a pretty big deal because Grant had yet to meet his Great Grandparents. The trip was 10 hours one way so after a few stops here and there, a surprise overnight visit with Doug and Brandi, and a lot of Elmo-we survived our journey. Grant was a little trooper and we were very thankful that he traveled so well. He took a quick liking to all his Great Grandparents and had a great time exploring and getting into everything in their homes.
Not only did Grant get to spend some quality time with our Grandparents but he also had a great time chasing after his cousins, Lily and Lucy. This picture is the three of them in a rocking chair that was my moms. My Grandma Iversen said they did not have a real rocking chair so she would actually sit in this and rock my mom. We have many pictures of all us kids and cousins in this rocker so it's fun to have one of Grant and his cousins in it as well. We all had a great time on our little vacation to South Dakota and hope it won't be too long before we are back again.
Just before we left for South Dakota Grant was able to spend a little time with Hayden Howard. The boys were pretty cute to see together. They went from toy to toy and always seemed to want to play with the same one. Grant took Hayden into his favorite play area-the kitchen-and the boys were quite the duo. This picture is of Hayden pulling out all the Tupperware and Grant having a blast with it. We are looking forward to an afternoon at CoCo Keys with him in a couple weeks!

Happy Fall and Look Who Can Crawl!

For the past few weeks Nick has been extremely busy with work and doing a lot of work from home, so Grant and I really tried to take advantage of his breaks (and the time we got to spend with him) by doing some fun fall activities. Grant experienced his first parade at the Overland Park's Fall Fest. He loved seeing all the cars, trucks, and motorcycles go by but I think had more interest watching the kids all around him chase after candy. Then the next weekend we headed to the historic town of Weston for their Applefest. We spent most of our time at the Big Red Barn Farm and spent most of our afternoon picking pumpkins, getting a horse drawn hayrack ride, and just enjoying the fresh air and being out of the city. Then as of last week, Grant has finally become a crawler! He has been so close for the past couple of months and Nick and I were starting to think he might just skip the crawling and go straight to walking. What started out as a slow trek across our 5x8 rug has turned into our little guy getting into every drawer, cupboard, and shelf he can get his hands on. Before I can pick up the last area he has terrorized, he is into the next. Actually it's been pretty fun to watch him go everywhere and now that he's mobile he is content to play for hours just moving from one thing to the next. He's also loving crawling all over his little car. He pulls himself up on it, loves opening and closing the hood, and putting his smaller toys in it.Grant's also moved onto eating about every food we're eating. We've found he loves about anything but especially waffles, french toast, foods with noodles, kiwi, and of course cheerios! He's also learning to master his sippy cup and has definately mastered dropping everything he can on the floor. Nick and I have decided we need a dog. :)

Labor Day Weekend

We had a wonderful long weekend back in Kearney and were so excited to meet our new nephew Gus Twit. It's been a few weekends since Labor Day but I had to post these pictures of Grant with his cousins.
All 4 boys have hats knitted for them by their Grandma Diane! We had such a relaxing weekend and can't wait to get back again. We fished, roasted smores, played trucks, Mom and Dad got to golf, and Grant was able to get his first Mule ride!Grant loved spending time with our families and had a lot of fun being entertained by Max and Ted. It doesn't look like it now, but I'm sure it won't be long before Grant and Gus are running everywhere- wanting to do everything their big cousins are. Looking forward to our fun years ahead! Now it's time to get him together with all the girls on my side...oh no Grant, just you and 5 girl cousins!

Fun at the Farm, Fun at the Zoo

A couple of weekends ago we had a fun afternoon at the Deana Rose Farm. There was lots to see, lots to do, and Grant had a blast. However, he seemed to enjoy all the kids around him more than the animals!
About a week before we went to the farm, Grant started taking interest in other kids and becomes very excited when he is around them. He starts kicking his legs, flapping his arms, and yelling with excitement. And he does this with kids everywhere- friends' kids, cousins, or just a random kid he sees in the store- it's quite entertaining!
We also made our first trip to the Kansas City Zoo (it was no Omaha Zoo), but we still had a good time. Grant enjoyed his stroller ride all over the zoo and seeing all the different animals. It seems that in the last month Nick and I find ourselves saying "wow, he just seems so much bigger and older today" about every other day. We feel that Grant is becoming more and more our little boy, rather than our little baby. His personality is shining through more and more each day too. Happy as can be and very easygoing would be our best way to describe him (I think we might be in trouble with the next one). :)

Summer Fun!

Grant has had a lot of fun this summer and now that he has no problem sitting on his own, we brought out the little pool his Grandma Mimi got for him. He absolutely loves it and it's just his size!Grant also learned how to splash at the pool, so bath time is a whole new excitement for him. He is a wild man in his tub, kicking, splashing, and playing with all his toys.He is so close to crawling. He is now able to move himself backwards and can get up on all fours. Nick and I have not really been pushing the crawling thing because we know our life is going to get much busier once it happens. Not to mention our little home is going to get much smaller :) This picture was taken after he moved himself under our table. He has also maneuvered himself under beds.Last week Grant had his two top teeth come through, so he now has a total of 4 teeth! He is also saying MaMa! I'm not sure if this is him babbling or him knowing what this word means but he seems to say it at the appropriate times...either way I'm thrilled :) This little picture was taken by his dad just after his bath and right before he is on his way to bed. He looks pretty serious but we had to put a pic up of him in his Pjs...he just seems so big in them! :)

Great Grant Video!

Happy 6 Months Grant!

Well we can hardly believe it's been 6 months since that day we were holding Grant in our arms for the first time. Grant turned 6 months on Thursday, the 23rd and is doing so many new things since we've last posted! Last month he started eating cereal and Sunday he started with his first food-Sweet Potatoes! He seems to really like them and has had no problem finishing the entire jar. Grant got his first tooth at the end of last month...and a week after that, he got a second! If you look closely at this picture you can see his two little bottom teeth. And as of Friday, he is sitting up on his own!
He loves his swing that dad put up in the backyard for him! When Grant went for his 6 month appointment he was 28 3/4 in long (97%), 17 lbs 10 oz. (50%) and head circum. 17 1/8 in (50%). Dr. Maxwell and his nurse could not believe how big he was. Here he is celebrating his 6 month birthday with a little Mexican food and Margaritas...well we did anyway, Grant enjoyed his cereal and being out with Dad and Mom!We are finding that he is super ticklish, loves to be outside, loves going on walks, and is quite the little people person. He smiles at everyone!...which is so great because his little smile can brighten your day!

Grant and Mom's Week

With Nick being away in Guatemala this past week, Grant and I tried to keep ourselves busy doing about everything you could imagine. I must say we did a pretty good job of it and had a fun week! But are also unbelievably excited to have Dad come home tomorrow. Grant enjoyed his first trip to the swimming pool...and then many more after that.He went to the park for the first time and absolutely loved the swings, he was smiling the entire time. He also let out quite a few of his adorable giggles.
Then on Sunday he rolled from his back to his stomach! Then continued to do it multiple more times. This picture is right after he did it the first time, he seemed so proud of himself when I was praising him.We e-mailed Nick pictures of our day each night, so we thought we had some pretty cute ones to share on the blog this week. Hope you enjoy them! :)

4 Months

We don't know where May went but here we are already into June! Grant has done so much over the past month. He has found his fingers and is not particular about any individual one, just whatever gets in his mouth he will be happy to suck. He may actually favor his big toes over any fingers. He found them a few weeks ago and constantly has them in his mouth. He has also accomplished rolling from his stomach to his back and we are working on strengthening those core muscles, so I have a feeling it won't be long before he is sitting up.

He had his 4 month Dr's appointment on May 20th and seems to be staying consistent with his growth. He was 27 1/4 in tall (97%), 15lbs 14oz (75%), and 16 1/2 in head circumference (40%). And once again he was a little champ for his shots.

Grant was quite the little traveling man throughout May as well. He made a couple trips to Omaha and Kearney, then had his first family vacation. We went to Boulder for the Bolder Boulder race again but this year the Sutko family rented a cabin in Estes Park for the week. So needless to say Grant had so much fun being entertained by all the Sutkos' and especially his cousins, Max and Ted. He also got to meet his Great Grandma Douglas!

Grant's easy going personality continues to shine through and we can't get enough of his little smiles, giggles, and slobbery kisses. He is just our happy little guy!
